Shifting from negative to positive self-talk, sometimes takes practice and patience…especially with giving yourself grace. But the outcomes and benefits, will far outweigh the time it takes to shift your perspective. To visualize best you need a goal, and to achieve it, you need a solid plan. Let’s say your goal is to get a new job due to the current crisis layoffs. Let’s think further about how we can clearly define it.

What kind of job/career are we looking for now? Carefully consider this. Remember, this crisis will end. This could be the opportunity you have been waiting for to reinvent yourself!

Let’s put pen to paper and think through the following questions:

  • What are my strengths and talents?

  • What do I really enjoy doing and could do for long periods of time without getting bored or sick of it?

  • Is there any training I would need to be more efficient/excellent at this?

  • What resources would I need to advance in this area?

  • How could I tailor my resume to this line of work?

  • How can I leverage my network?

  • Who do I know that has experience hiring? Could they look at my resume and help me fine tune it?

  • Who do I know that can help me find more resources?

Now, write down your talents/strengths and all that’s needed for alignment with this goal.

Now, we are "cookin' with grease!" Let's begin to craft your plan! From this document, you can start a weekly and monthly plan to reach your goals.

The next step will be to put your resources and people in place.
